A male suspect is in custody after surrendering to police and SWAT team officers following a standoff that lasted nearly seven hours at a Menifee home on Monday morning, Aug. 31.

Police responded to a residence in the 29900 block of Westlink Drive at 11:50 p.m. Sunday to a report of domestic violence, said Deputy Armando Munoz of the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. At the scene, officers located a female suffering from minor injuries. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The male suspect refused to come out of the house, according to Munoz. A SWAT team was called and a helicopter patrolled the area while officers attempted to get the suspect to surrender. The suspect surrendered without incident about 6:30 a.m. Monday.

No announcement of charges have been made at this time and no other details are available.
