The suspects in the attack on two people with a baseball bat at the side of Interstate 15 on Monday, March 2 turned themselves in at the California Highway Patrol office in Temecula early today, CHP officials said.

According to a CHP news release and jail records, Gabriel E. Bowker, 20, of Grand Terrace faces charges of attempted murder and assault with a deadly weapon causing great bodily injury. He was the driver in a white Honda Civic that pulled onto the shoulder behind another vehicle in an apparent road rage incident next to the northbound lanes of the I-15 just south of Clinton Keith Road in Wildomar about 6:40 p.m. on March 2.

The victims and a witness stated that Bowker confronted two people who exited the other car and attacked them with a baseball bat. The victims were transported to Inland Valley Medical Center with major blunt force head injuries. Bowker and a passenger in his vehicle fled the scene before officers arrived.

Guadalupe Bowker, 30, of Grand Terrace was arrested on suspicion of being an accessory to the crime. Both suspects are being held at the Southwest Jail on $1 million bail.

Investigators were following up leads on the whereabouts of the suspects when they turned themselves in at 1 a.m. today.
