The Paloma Valley High School Naval JROTC Battalion passed military inspection with flying colors and many cadets were given promotions Friday night, March 20 in the high school stadium.

Wildcat Battalion, which numbers more than 220 cadets and ranks third in all of Southern California and Arizona, was given high praise by the inspecting officer when announcing that the unit passed inspection. Members of Alpha Company and Bravo Company performed drills and cadets were honored for performing physical challenges and for promoting in rank.

"They did great," said Master Sergeant Frank Puebla (left), who directs the Battalion all year long in its performances, drills and hundreds of hours of community service. "What I like most about this group is that there's so much diversity. We have athletes, band members, students with 4.5 GPAs, some that are special needs. They help each other."

Paloma Valley principal Don Williamson joined military officers in presenting promotional certificates.

The Battalion is raising funds for a trip to Pensacola, Fla. April 10-11 to compete in the national drill team competition.
