A local teacher and resident of Menifee was presented with Assemblywoman Melissa Melendez' (R-Lake Elsinore) monthly Power to the People Award.

Melendez presented the award to Robert Kent, a teacher at Wildomar's Ronald Reagan Elementary School.

“It is extremely important to recognize individuals who are making a difference in our community each and every day,” said Melendez. “We have remarkable people in our midst who are overcoming obstacles and are accomplishing great things. Too often their efforts and accomplishments go unrecognized.”

Kent received the award, in recognition of his achievement as the recipient of the "Teachers are Heroes" award, sponsored by KATY-101.3 and Azusa Pacific University. Teachers are nominated by students, parents, and faculty, and is given to teachers that have gone above and beyond their fellow teachers.

The Power to the People Award is a monthly effort by Melendez to recognize people in the 67th Assembly District, who significantly impact the lives of others.
