A Sun City man was booked today on felony weapons charges after he was captured trying to flee from police in a Hemet neighborhood.

Eric Jones, 34, refused to open the door to Hemet police, jumped out a bedroom window and fled through an alley adjacent to an apartment complex in the 100 block of N. Columbia Street about 11:42 a.m., police said. He was detained a short time later.

Jones, under investigation as a battery suspect, was found to be manufacturing illegal guns inside the apartment. One complete firearm was seized as well as ammunition, and parts for several more guns.

Charges include felon in possession of a gun, felon in possession of ammunition, and manufacturing illegal guns. Bail is set at $30,000.
