The Lake Menifee Women's Club held it's annual scholarship essay contest which was open to female students of all grades from Paloma Valley High School and Heritage High School.
The theme of the essay contest this year was "An event in my life that made me a stronger woman." The students submitted their essays and the winners were invited to the Women's Club meeting on Nov. 11.
Arianna Grindstaff was selected as the winner from Paloma Valley High School. Her essay focused on the goal she had set of making the varsity soccer team, but after failing to make the team, she re-focused herself on improving her grades, applying for colleges, and playing other sports.
Jessica Newsom was selected as the winner from Heritage High School. Her essay was on her goal of becoming an engineer after she decided to join the Robotics Club during her freshmen year, despite being the only girl in the club. She persevered by taking extra math and science classes.
The Lake Menifee Women's Club will also be cosponsors for Santa's Workshop which gives toys, books, coats, and school supplies to the children of the Quail Valley area. For more information on Lake Menifee Women's Club, visit www.lakemenifeewomensclub.org.
