Son of Deceased Bicyclist Found Dead of Apparent Suicide

Menifee 24/7 has just received confirmation that the oldest son of the bicyclist killed in a traffic accident July 23 was found dead today of an apparent suicide.

The death of Cameron Carp was announced this afternoon on the Facebook pages of his brother, Travis, and uncle, Marc, and confirmed by a family friend. Cameron's age has not been released.

"My brother committed suicide this morning," Travis Carp posted on his Facebook page. "I don't even know what to say. I didn't think things could get worse."

Cameron's father, 55-year-old Matt Carp, died Wednesday afternoon when his bicycle was struck by a motorist on Domenigoni Parkway in east Menifee. Matt and Cameron are survived by Matt's wife Paula and two children, Amanda and Travis.

  1. My heart and prayers go out for everyone involved in this tragic event. My husband drives that way to and from work. He actually passed the aftermath of it when it happened. He came home and told me about it and I was not surprised. We drove that way today and I felt my heart pull as we passed where it happened. So many people drive that road as a raceway due to the speed limit being 65. I feel it is unsafe for a bicycle lane or even walking pedestrians on that road. This family needs a strong support group. I wish there was something I could do.
