New MUSD Offices Planned for August 2015 Opening on 'Hub'

An artist's rendering shows the planned design for the new Menifee Union School District Education Center.
Members of the Menifee Union School District board were recently shown plans for a 45,000-square-foot District Education Center to be built on the Haun Road "hub" site near City Hall.

At its March 11 meeting, the board was presented a facilities update with artist's renderings of a permanent location for the district offices and additional instruction areas. This would replace the current facilities located in cramped quarters adjacent to Callie Kirkpatrick Elementary School on Menifee Road (left).

The district owns the property that is now vacant land at the middle of the Haun Road hub, which circles past medical offices, City Hall, the U.S. Post Office and other businesses north of Newport Road. According to the presentation, the facility would include new technology upgrades and a two-story structure including:

-- A permanent board room
-- Two training rooms
-- Technology and technology storage
-- Multiple shared conference rooms
-- Ample restroom space
-- A design offering secure yet accessible environment
-- Room for growth and future expansion
-- Energy efficiency

According to the presentation document, final review of the plans will be held "in the near future." There has been no announced date for the start of construction.

In addition to its central location in the district, the expanded facilities would be a significant improvement. Just having a larger board room is a plus. At Tuesday's board meeting, many parents who showed up to support the proposed Menifee Valley Preparatory School couldn't get inside the building because of space limitations.

The new school district facility will be build on this parcel in the middle of the Haun Road hub. City Hall is in the background.
