A Lancaster man was arrested on suspicion of murder in the death of an employee at the McCall Storage and Car Wash in Menifee, police said today.

Jeremy Robbins, 37, was arrested on Wednesday after detectives determined he was responsible for a March 23 assault on 60-year-old Weskey Uyekawa of Menifee at the business location in the 27000 block of McCall Boulevard. The suspect fled before officers arrived at the scene, where Uyekawa complained of abdominal pain and was transported to a local hospital for examination.

The next day, officers returned to the business about 9:30 a.m. after a co-worker found Uyekawa dead on the premises. A police spokesman classified the incident as an "unattended death" on Monday, as officers and the coroner remained on site much of the day. But after further investigation, it was determined that Uyekawa died due to medical complications from the assault the day before.

On Wednesday, officers located and arrested Robbins in Lancaster.
