Man Found Viewing Child Pornography in Menifee Restaurant

A 72-year-old man was booked for possession of child pornography Monday night after police responded to a report from a customer that a man was viewing child pornography on his laptop while sitting in a restaurant in Countryside Marketplace in Menifee.

Police did not name the restaurant in which this took place. The incident was reported at 9:45 p.m. Monday. According to the police report, deputies contacted the suspect inside the restaurant and confirmed he was viewing child pornography utilizing the restaurant's open Wi-Fi connection.

The subsequent investigation and search of his residence revealed that Charles Turton Cook was in possession of numerous digital photographs depicting young male children on his laptop computer. Cook was booked into the Southwest Detention Center for possession of child pornography and bail was set at $5,000. Cook's hometown was not listed.
