A Romoland man was arrested and booked for felony DUI after he lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a building in Perris Sunday, police said.

Officers from the Perris Police Department responded to a collision reported in the 2900 block of North Perris Boulevard about 3:19 p.m. The initial caller said there was an emergency and a car was inside a building.

According to police, the driver in the collision had just left a business and attempted to leave the parking lot. He lost control of the vehicle and drove into the building, striking employees and patrons inside. Three adults were transported to a local hospital for treatment with injuries ranging from serious to a complaint of pain.

The driver was identified as Mario Balverde, 19, of Romoland. According to the police report, it is suspected the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. The driver was arrested and booked for felony DUI resulting in injuries.
