Gloria Sanchez, a 12-year resident of the Oasis community of Menifee, recently announced her candidacy for the District 4 seat on the Menifee City Council in next year's election.

Even though it is a year until the election will be held for the council seat currently held by John Denver, Sanchez received a big show of support from residents and the endorsement of Deputy Mayor Wallace Edgerton and Riverside County Supervisor Jeff Stone.

Sanchez has been a member of the Advisory Council since 2002. She served as 3rd District appointee and became Chair of the Advisory Council in June 2012 and was recently re-elected to serve as Chair for two more years.

She has served on various committees, including Community Outreach, Membership, Leadership Advisory Resource Team, Public Relations, Generations of Addictions, Nominating, Health and Wellness and 2010 Census Outreach Program for the Advisory Council on Aging. She is also the liaison for the Older Adult System of Care Committee for the Riverside County Mental Health Department, and represents the Advisory Council on the Triple-A Council of California. She is also an Advisory Member of the Independent Living Partnership.
