Reg Bennett held onto his big lead over Rita Peters to win by a 2-1 margin for the only contested seat on the Menifee Union School District board.

Bennett, a 44-year-old history teacher in the Corona-Norco Unified School District, received 66.89 percent of the votes to Peters' 33.11 percent with all precincts reporting. Peters, 64, was appointed less than a year ago to fill Scott Mann's seat on the board of trustees when Mann was elected mayor.

Bennett will be the school board representative in District 1, which includes the northwest part of Menifee. The other three board members up for re-election -- Ron Ulibarri, Randall Freeman and Jerry Bowman -- all ran unopposed.
