Donations Sought for Herk Bouris School First Grade Class

In our continuing efforts to support worthy charitable donations in the community, Menifee 24/7 urges your support of a fundraising drive for students of Sheryl Coenen's first grade class (left) at Herk Bouris Elementary School.

As we all know, school budgets are tight. Coenen has a goal of $750 to purchase much-needed resources for the literary block in her class. Donations will be used to purchase reading books, a CD player for a listening/read-a-long center, and a subscription for a weekly reader that provides students with a variety of reading genres and topics.

"All these items are used to help build fluency and comprehension for my budding readers," she said.

Coenen has established an online account for donations. So far, she is $662 short of her goal. The donorschoose.org website will match all donations received by this Monday, Aug. 5. Donations will still be accepted after that date as well.

The website limits donations to this account to $800, but donations exceeding that amount can be used to purchase additional books with a donorschoose.org gift card.
