Authorities have not yet released the identity of a U.S. Marine who died Tuesday afternoon in a skydiving accident in Perris.

According to Riverside County Fire Department officials, emergency crews responded to the accident scene in the 2000 block of Goetz Road, north of the Perris Skydiving facility. The initial report stated only that the victim was an adult male who did not survive the incident. Reporters were referred to a Marine Corps public information officer. Menifee 24/7 is pursuing further information.

According to published reports, the victim was part of a Camp Pendleton Marine Corps group participating in a skydiving training exercise. Witnesses said the victim's parachute did not open.
