The name of a successor to Dr. Linda Callaway as superintendent of the Menifee Union School District will be brought before the governing board for approval at its meeting Tuesday afternoon.

The agenda for Tuesday's 4:30 p.m. meeting includes a personnel action item to appoint an unnamed candidate as superintendent effective April 1, 2013. The name of the new superintendent and salary amount are left blank in the agenda item.

Following a 3:30 p.m. closed session, the board is scheduled to vote on the personnel hiring at the start of its regular 4:30 meeting. Callaway announced Aug. 14 that she will retire next spring. According to a spokesperson for the school district, Callaway will remain on the job until the day before the new superintendent takes over on April 1.

Callaway, 61, has been with the district for 18 years and has served as superintendent for the last 6 1/2 years.
