Todd Reed contacted the folks at BJ's Restaurant and learned that their planned restaurant at the Countryside Marketplace won't be coming until 2010. He posted the following comment today on an older article...
I saw the comment about the rumor BJ's has pulled out yesterday. I went on their website and asked them via their contact page if the rumors were true. Today I received an e-mail from Crystal Wang, Guest Relations / Claims Coordinator for BJ's Restaurants. She told me they are projecting the opening of their Menifee location for 2010.
My guess is that they probably planned to open sooner, but the way the economy is, and the fact that they have BJ's in Moreno Valley, Temecula, and Corona, made it sensible to wait awhile.

Well, even though I love their pizzas, particularly with jalapenos and ham, this will help me keep my girlish figure awhile longer.

Thanks Todd!

  2. It suck's, but at least we know they are coming. Just not as soon as we would like. Our city wasn't built in a day and it just gives us something to look forward to.

  3. i know i was and i bet a lot of others also were waiting for them to open. i just hope this isn't a sign of things to come for the mall. hope for the best, mainly being the new city needs the taxes generated from ALL the new stores opening up. the sooner they all open, the better.

  4. The sad part is we could really use a restaurant or two around here! BJ's has a nice selection and would have made a good eatery for the Menifee area ~ I really think they're missing a great opportunity to be a mainstay in the new City of Menifee!

  5. PJ. You speak as if they've decided not to start a business hear at all. What an alarmist. They are just delaying their opening until economic conditions inprove emough to sustain the business indefintiely. They can't have a "false start."

  6. Oh well, at least Red Robin is still going up and TGIF right?

  7. "What an alarmist!" ?

    So dramatic :)

  9. That's stupid. Do they know how many people live around here and have the choice of, maybe, three restaurants? That's just stupid marketing.

  10. What restaurants are actually on
the "TO OPEN FOR SURE" list?
If BJ's doesn't want to come on board.....can other restaurants
bid for the space (ie: Mimi's or
    marie calendars)

  11. I sent their corporate office an email and their response was, "Sorry to disappoint you." The planned opening is still 2010.

  12. I've noticed that the Red Robin sign is up along the freeway. I'm hoping that means they will open soon.

  13. Up until the point that I contacted BJ's, I never heard a date for them to be opening up in Menifee. 2010 was the first date I had heard. A lot of people, myself included at first, seem to be under the impression that they are being hesitant or having second thoughts about opening up. In reality, they are still committed to Menifee and never said they were opening any sooner. We as a whole were just under the presumption that they would be open late this year or early next year.

As for Red Robin, they not only have the sign up along the freeway, but the sign is also up on the actual building.

  14. while I agree witht Todd - they didnt actually say they were opening earlier - I think that as far as restaurantsdo - they would have done well opening earlier. Its not like we have other choices to dine at here - so people would go there - if not only fo rthe food - the bar, sports games etc. They would have done well. We might not be buying so much clothes but we still like to go out to a nince dinner!!

  15. A little off topic from BJ's Restaurant & Brewery, but it's still related.

I just received an e-mail from Ron Finkelstein, Regional Operations Director - Region 7 for Red Robin. He said the Red Robin is scheduled to open September 29th.

I've been submitting inquiries (opening dates, hiring dates, etc.) with as many confirmed businesses going in to Countryside Marketplace as I can remember. As I hear back (if I hear back) I'll continue to post updates.

  17. The BJ's is now confirmed to be opening this year. The signage is up and it is in fact going to be the very first thing you see turning onto Haun Road. It's the corner building on Newport/Haun, and has the two massive distillers and the one with the waterfall/bench area near it! The sign is up about 150 away from the building, but it is in fact going there.

Also, a Whimsical, a Vitamin Shoppe, a Sapporo, and a Jamba Juice also have signage up, among many others that all of you will probably die of excitment over!

  18. Wow thats great about BJ's!! I guess they read these posts. :)

  19. Ok so can anyone please tell me what type of stores are Whimsical & Sapporo?? Neverheard of them.

  20. Sapparo's Japenese Grill and Sushi. It's a Tepenyaki grill, the kind of Japanese grill that has specially trained chefs that perform cool tricks with they're cooking utensils while cooking your meal.

Whimsical Frozen Yogurt and Gelato. Supposedly more delicious than Maggie Moos Ice Cream or Cold Stone.

  21. Per Crystal Wang (Guest Relations/ Claims Coordinator, BJ's Restaurants, Inc.) today, BJs no longer has a plan to open a facility in Menifee.

  22. Come on Yogurt more delicious than ColdStone!!! I don't see lines at all those yogurt or italian ice cream shops popping up all over the place like i see for ice cream. Its just a FAD. I dont see many Golden Spoons around and lets remember they were here before Cold Stone or Maggie's. But thats ok they can try.

  23. I hope so, I heard they own the land but they weren't sure if they are going to open one. I work at the one in Moreno valley and I live in Sun city
