Menifee Valley Talk Radio - Tonight

Menifee Valley Talk Radio ran their first prime time broadcast, this evening at 8:00pm.

Rita Peters, trustee with the Menifee Union School District board was the special guest this evening and explained her opposition to cityhood, from the standpoint of a long time Quail Valley resident who doesn't agree her community should be a part of the new city.

Two city council candidates called in to speak, Scott Mann and Tom Fuhrman. Mann spoke to counter the anti-cityhood remarks made by Peters. Fuhrman described himself as the rural representative on the list of city council candidates, and went on to speak about some interesting history on eminent domain here in the valley.

You can hear a replay of the show here...

  1. I HAVE KNOWN AND RESPECTED MR. EDGERTON FOR APROXIMATELY 30 YEARS.

WALLACE EDGERTON IS THE MOST QUALIFIED PERSON RUNNING IN THE ELECTION FOR MENIFEE CITY COUNCIL. MR. EDGERTON HAS SHOWN HIS KNOWLEDGE BOTH AS A PROFESSOR AND AS SITTING COUNCIL MEMBER IN THE CITY OF LONG BEACH.

DURING MR. EDGERTONS TENURE, HE SHOWED THE CONSTITUANCY A SENSE OF EMPATHY AND COMPASSION WHEN DEALING WITH CITY MATTERS. WHEN IT CAME TO DEALING WITH OUTSIDE AGENCIES, HE WAS WELL RESPECTED. HIS KNOWLEDGE OF GOVERNMENT, BUREAUCRACY, PLANNING, POLICING AND THE ENVIRONMENT WOULD BE INVALUABLE TO OUR NEW CITY.

THE OTHER IMPRESSIVE POINT ABOUT MR. EDGERTON IS THAT HE IS RUNNING A CAMPAIGN FREE OF CONTRIBUTIONS. THAT MEANS HE HAS RECEIVED NO MONIES FROM INDIVIDUALS, OR COMPANIES. HE OWES NO ONE. THIS MEANS HE IS FREE TO LISTEN, AND ACT WITH OUR BEST INTERESTS.

AS A RESIDENT OF MENIFEE FOR APPROXIMATELY 14 YEARS, HE KNOWS AND UNDERSTANDS OUR PROBLEMS. WITH HIS EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE HE CAN REPRESENT US, KNOWING WHERE TO GO, AND WHAT TO DO. THIS COUPLED WITH HIS INTEGRITY MAKES HIM A PERSON THAT WILL ACT TO SECURE OUR POSITION AS AVIBRANT NEW CITY, DURING THIS PERIOD OF ECONOMIC TURMOIL.

  3. Wally Edgerton is spending his own money and that is great. However, all his signs and all of his colored, two-sided direct mailers to my house cost ALOT OF MONEY!
I sure hope that he has disclosed those $1,000 plus campaign expenditures under the FPPC laws.
Otherwise, he will end up paying more $$$ in fines.

You better file those papers Wally! Everyday your fines go up!

  5. It is sad that the hosts of the show claim to be doing it to inform people, but yet are not even informed about the number of candidates running. It is hard to take them serious.

  6. I disagree, I learned a lot about Tom Fuhrman tonight.

Therese and Chuck are there to put the topics on the table, it's up to you to call in, or chat online, and make the conversation go. That's kinda how Menifee 24/7 is too.

  7. Steve as the "host" of this show do you put any time into researching topics before you "talk" about them? The topics you are putting out should be accurate, at leat the simple facts, like number of candidates. I agree the radio talk show can be informative, but as the hosts they should have some knowledge of what the topic is that they are talking about.

  8. Terry, you are right on. Edgerton has the experience and background to make a good city councilmen. I also like Chris Thomas for his CPA and municipal financing background. We need someone with good financial "smarts" as we start a new city. I heard him speak on Menifee Talk Radio and he knows his stuff.....especially when he had to talk with Ann Pica (against Cityhood) about bonds (Monday May 26th show). I also like that he said he has not taken any developer contributions (like Edgerton). So YES Menifee Talk Radio has been an excellent source of information to me to hear candidates plainly talk in a informal manner so you can really hear what they are about. I think the hosts (Therese and Chuck) ask good questions and I have learned a lot. I also think Steve does put a great amount of research into his articles and topics. If I really want to know what is going on I go to Menifee 24/7 first. I look forward to the last broadcast of Menifee Talk Radio before the election.

  9. I agree. Menifee Valley Talk Radio has been helping me make the decision. Keep up the good work! This and Menifee 24/7 are the sources where I can go to get the info I need.

  10. Long beach is a very large city that is able to sustain a major university, its own police and fire departments, and thousands of businesses and homes. Everyone knows Long Beach has a great deal of crime and some bad neighborhoods but it also has beautiful beaches, a huge harbor that brings in probably billions of dolllars to our country and not to mention all the jobs. Have you been to Long Beach lately or are you just basing your comment on what you see on the news. Mr. Edgerton's past seat on the Long Beach council screams how qualified he is for a seat on Menifee's city council.
I hope that many other people are aware of his experience and integrity. I am so thrilled that there is a candidate that only owes those who elect him favors.

    VOTE FOR EDGERTON!!!

  11. Does anyone know what years Edgerton served the City of Long Beach? I looked on-line and wasn't able to find it. Also, can someone in his 80's understand what the younger famalies in the City need? These questions are to gain more information about Edgerton. They are not intended for anything more so please do not take them for anything more than obtaining information. Thanks.

  12. I Googled 'Wallace Wayne Edgerton' and his previous Campaign Disclosure Statements from his Long Beach City Council days popped up (CA Form 460). It appears that he last served in 1992 having disclosed that he lost re-election in 1992. On that same disclosure, it was claimed that there was $739 and some change in the bank. No big deal right? Well...

It appears from his campaign disclosure statements filed 12 YEARS LATER (2004) that his wife, presumably JUDITH LEE EDGERTON, is listed as his Treasurer on the disclosure period 1/1/04 to 6/30/04. Then, on a subsequent filing for the period 7/1/04 to 12/31/04, he disclosed on Schedule H of that same form that he PAID PROFESSIONAL SERVICES to Judith Lee Edgerton AS TREASURER in the amounts of $300.00 and $369.39. In the same filing, he disclosed that he made a loan to ALLY A. EDGERTON of Gold Canyon Arizona for a couple hundred dollars.

Question... Why, after 12 years, would a former city council member liquidate nearly a thousand dollars out of his campaign account paying his wife money "for professional accounting services as treasurer" and making a loan to another relative 12 YEARS AFTER HE LOST HIS LAST ELECTION IN 1992?

I guess Mr. Edgerton thought that enough time had passed by and no one would notice or pick up on it in the sleepy town of Menifee!

  13. A few hundred bucks? That seems minor compared to what I just read about Wolons blatantly having an affair with a married man. If you are still in investigator mode, Mr/Mrs previous anonymous, can you please find out if that is true? I definitely think us voters should know!

  14. Mr Edgerton is a honest man full of integrity. We need his experience, leadership and background to run this city when we first start out. I have personally talked to him and find him to be a person who knows his stuff and is very qualified to be a city councilmen. For the last comment..if you really want a story, look at the top campaign getters like Kuenzi and there you find true favors, special interests and pay offs. Vote Edgerton
